Impala mineworkers concerned about increasing fatalities

Thousands of mineworkers have gathered at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Phokeng near Rustenburg in the North West for AMCU's emergency safety briefing.

The union has raised concerns on the increase in fatalities in incidents at Implala Platinum mine operations in Rustenburg.

A total of seven fatalities have been recorded at the operation this year. Impala Platinum temporarily suspended mining operations at its Rustenburg complex for five days to conduct a comprehensive safety response.
