GBV in SA | Assault case opened after two-year-old video re-emerges

A video from two years ago, that circulated on social media again over the weekend, has led to the arrest of a 37-year-old man in Dinokana, outside Zeerust in the North West.

In the video, a man can be seen assaulting a woman. It appears the woman never opened a case of assault following the incident, but has now done so.

According to police, the man is currently on parole for a case reported in 2022, when he was convicted for possession of an unlicensed firearm.

He is also linked to a house robbery case from last month, and a case of violating a protection order in another matter.
