Discussion | DA under fire over allegations of undue influence in government

Fresh political controversy has erupted within the Government of National Unity (GNU) following allegations involving Democratic Alliance (DA) leader John Steenhuisen, former DA leader, Tony Leon and public affairs firm, Resolve Communications.

The allegations have raised questions about whether private interests may have enjoyed undue access to members of the executive, with critics drawing comparisons to state capture.

ActionSA has now written to the Speaker of the National Assembly and the chairpersons of all parliamentary portfolio committees overseeing departments led by DA ministers and deputy ministers, calling for urgent parliamentary investigations into the allegations.

Meanwhile, the ANC has also raised concerns, saying the claims warrant serious scrutiny.
