The Palestinian government wants UNESCO to list Sebastia as a World Heritage site.
Located in the Nablus District, Sebastia dates back more than 2,700 years.
They say that the designation could help preserve the ruins from Israeli encroachment.
The Israeli government has allocated significant funds to occupy the area and dozens of other sites across the occupied West Bank.
Al Jazeera’s Nour Odeh reports from Sebastia, occupied West Bank.
Atef Abu Seif is the former Palestinian Minister of Culture.
