France races to save Bordeaux wine region from massive wildfire

An area the size of 56,000 football fields — equivalent to more than half of Singapore's land mass — has been reduced to ash by massive wildfires in southwestern France. While the blaze's advance slowed overnight, it continues to threaten Bordeaux, the heart of France's famed wine country. Authorities warn it could take weeks, if not months, to bring the fire fully under control. William Denselow files this report for CNA from Lège in the Gironde region, while Craig Clements, director of San Jose State University's Wildfire Interdisciplinary Research Center, explains why this wildfire has proven so difficult to contain.
