More than 600 years ago, the Battle of Grunwald changed the course of European history. Fought on July 15, 1410, the combined forces of the Kingdom of Poland and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania defeated the Teutonic Order in one of medieval Europe’s largest and most decisive battles.

Every summer, thousands of reenactors gather on the historic battlefield in northern Poland for Europe’s largest medieval reenactment. Pulse of Culture goes behind the scenes to experience the spectacle, meet the passionate community keeping history alive, and discover why the Battle of Grunwald remains one of Poland’s greatest historical traditions.

We then travel to Malbork Castle, the former headquarters of the Teutonic Order. A UNESCO World Heritage Site and the world’s largest brick castle, Malbork is one of Europe's most remarkable medieval fortresses and one of Poland’s must-visit historic landmarks.

Finally, we head to the Polish Army Museum in Warsaw for the Polish Sabre Festival, where one of Poland’s most iconic weapons is celebrated through demonstrations, historical displays and centuries of martial tradition.
