Berlin Pride van ramming likely an 'Islamist terror attack', official says | BBC News

One woman is dead and 29 others are injured after a car was driven into a crowd at a Berlin Pride event on Saturday night. Multiple people were then stabbed with a blade that “might have been a machete”.

Police have identified a suspect named Abdul Ballout, a German citizen of Lebanese background who was known to police and previously had “committed a number of crimes”.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz says extremists "have no place in our society", vowing to do everything in the government's power to see justice served.
