With the country marking 32 years of democracy tomorrow (Monday 27th April) the day is supposed to celebrate the liberation of South Africans from a long period of colonialism, apartheid and white minority domination entrenched by systems during that era. However some South Africans still bemoan racial profiling in South Africa's banking systems. With banks being seen to be gatekeepers of capital, continuing to treat Black people as perpetual outsiders.
Access to capital for black-owned businesses in South Africa also remains challenging, often described as a major constraint to growth and a primary factor in high business failure rates.
