Trade unions push for retirement funds to benefit members

Further discussions need to be had about retirement funds investing in legislated, compulsory investments or so-called prescribed assets. This was one of the issues raised by trade unionist Jan Mahlangu of COSATU.

He was a keynote speaker at the 70th year celebration of the SALT Employee Benefits conference in Johannesburg.

Issues around the importance of the retirement industry best serving the interests of members of the Funds also took centre stage, including the need to instill trust in their members.
