More than 10 foreign-owned establishments have been closed in Bloemfontein. This follows a joint Department of Employment and Labour multi-disciplinary blitz inspection of different businesses around the East-End Business Park, and the Bloemfontein CBD.
During inspections, three undocumented foreign nationals were arrested for working without work permits.
The department worked alongside Home Affairs, Mangaung Metro Municipality law enforcement, and immigration officials to clamp down on labour exploitation and the hiring of illegal immigrants, while strengthening compliance with labour legislation.
SABC News reporter Kamohelo Tsotetsi reports from Bloemfontein, in the Free State.
