The United States said on Thursday (Jul 23) it would impose tariffs of between 10 and 12.5 per cent on imports from 60 trading partners over forced labour concerns, replacing a temporary 10 per cent global duty that expires on Friday. Susan Stone of Adelaide University tells CNA’s Asia Now that while forced labour has been on the US trade agenda for quite some time, there are other means through which the issue could be tackled.
