Housing delivery remains a big concern in Calvinia in the Northern Cape.

Residents who've been on the housing waiting lists for decades say they have been overlooked as houses are being completed and handed over to beneficiaries.

The province is in the process of constructing 4 000 units across the five districts in the province, as part of the R1 billion housing project launched by President Cyril Ramaphosa in 2024. But progress has been slow, with administrative delays and contractor non-performance.
