Rubio-Lavrov meeting: You can’t break an agreement that wasn’t | David DeBatto

Following his meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio told the press that the agreement supposedly reached at the meeting between presidents Trump and Putin fell through, because Ukraine would not agree to it. But how much credence can be given to the statement?

“Excuse me, I think that it was actually the Russians that wouldn’t agree to most of the agreements or the comments that were made during any of the ‘agreements,’” David DeBatto, geopolitical analyst and retired U.S. Army counterintelligence officer, told TVP World, saying that what Rubio said seems to actually reflect Trump’s own feelings.

“There were no deals, no agreements that were reached in Alaska,” DeBatto bluntly puts it. “So for Lavrov or any of the Russians to say that the United States or Ukraine are violating the agreements that came out of the Anchorage conference or summit is just not true.”
