NSFAS accomodation funding cap leaves students fuming

With the second semester having started at tertiary institutions countrywide, fears of student homelessness are mounting, as NSFAS challenges persist.

Student bodies are left fuming over the NSFAS accommodation cap, which they claim disadvantages students, especially those from poor backgrounds.

They have given Higher Education until mid-August 2026 to table solutions to the ongoing accommodation funding challenges.

Meanwhile, the Private Student Accommodation Association has also echoed fears that some of their members might be out of business if NSFAS does not confirm the annual accommodation rate increase for this year and pay outstanding debt.
