NEHAWU Congress to address urgent issues

The National Education, Health and Allied Workers' Union (NEHAWU) must use its national congress to tackle urgent political and international issues.

That's the message to delegates, as the union's National Congress got underway in Boksburg, on the East Rand of Gauteng.

The gathering is themed "Strengthen Workplace Organisation to Defend Collective Bargaining, Deepen Class Consciousness and Advance Internationalism."

Delegates will review organisational progress made since the union's last major resolutions in 2017.

SABC News Economics Reporter, Nothando Magudulela, says key priorities on the agenda include adopting a reviewed medium-term strategy, and a comprehensive ten-year plan to guide the union's future.
