UN Security Council | Open debate on natural resource governance

"No more exploitation. No more plundering." That was the message from U.N. Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, speaking at a Security Council open debate.

It was convened by the Democratic Republic of Congo on natural resource governance as a foundation for peace, security and prosperity.

Guterres told the Council that all too often, revenues from illicit exploitation of natural resources, were threatening reach while the control and exploitation of natural resources was dramatically altering the causes, dynamics and outcomes of conflict.
