At least 12 people were killed and more than 10 missing after a suspected gas explosion caused part of a tunnel under construction to collapse at the Teesta hydropower project in India's Himalayan state of Sikkim on Monday (Jul 20). Reports say 21 workers were inside when the explosion happened and six officials who later went in to help with the rescue also became trapped.
Rescue teams are battling toxic levels of gases, forcing them to limit each search inside the tunnel to just 15 minutes, even with oxygen gear. #india #tunnel #explosion
