LGE 2026 | IEC urges KZN parties to combat voter apathy

The IEC has urged political parties in KwaZulu-Natal to play a more active role to mobilise the electorate as voter apathy deepens in the province. The IEC's Commissioners concluded a five day visit to the province to, amongst other things, address voter participation. This comes as a study by the Human Sciences Research Council showed trust in the IEC and democracy has fallen in the country, with KwaZulu-Natal among the provinces with the most dissatisfied voters.
