Controversial changes to the Northern Territory's child protection laws are expected to pass NT parliament tonight despite repeated calls from Aboriginal leaders and family legal services to halt the reforms.

The government says the changes, introduced in the wake the alleged murder of a five-year-old child in Alice Springs will put children's safety above all else.
