Deputy Minister Peace Mabe delivers address at Luqobo "Bibo" Makwedini funeral

Deputy Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture Peace Mabe says Luqobo "Bibo" Makwedini will be remembered as one of South Africa's brightest young sporting talents, whose legacy will continue to inspire those whose lives he touched.

Mourners gathered in Qumrha in the Eastern Cape today to bid farewell to the 20-year-old rugby player, who was widely regarded as a rising star with a promising future.

Friends, family, teammates and members of the sporting community paid tribute to a young man remembered for his exceptional talent on the rugby field, his strong work ethic and his humble, down-to-earth character.

Makwedini passed away in France last month after collapsing during a training session with French Pro D2 club AS Béziers Hérault.

Despite receiving emergency medical treatment, he later died following an alleged heat stroke.
