Faishal Ibrahim's resignation: PAP chairman Desmond Lee says no by-election will be held

People's Action Party (PAP) chairman Desmond Lee said maintaining high standards of integrity and conduct is fundamental to the party after Associate Professor Faishal Ibrahim resigned from his political roles and as a PAP member on Monday (Jul 20).

Assoc Prof Faishal had stepped down after he admitted his interactions with a woman "fell short" of the standards required of a political office holder.

Addressing the media, Mr Lee thanked Assoc Prof Faishal for his "many years of dedication, service, and sacrifice to Singapore".

He also said there will not be a by-election following the resignation, adding that the four remaining MPs in Marine Parade-Braddell Heights GRC will step up to ensure residents in Kembangan continue to be served while further arrangements are made to strengthen the team.
