As Europe suffocates under a heatwave, climate expert Carlo Buontempo says temperatures "will continue to go up," adding that "heat-related mortality has increased by 30% over the past 20 years."

Buontempo, who leads the Copernicus Climate Change Service, also said that "record-breaking temperatures should not be breaking news. This is a consequence of the world warming up."
