US says soldiers killed as Iran conflict widens across the Gulf

The United States says another service member has been killed as fighting with Iran intensifies across the Middle East.

US Central Command says the soldier died while attempting a controlled detonation of an Iranian drone in northern Iraq. The announcement comes after two US troops were killed in an Iranian missile strike in Jordan, while another service member remains missing.

Meanwhile, the conflict continues to spread across the region. Kuwait has condemned an attack on a desalination plant, Jordan says it intercepted Iranian missiles, and the International Atomic Energy Agency is investigating reports that a US strike hit a partially built nuclear facility in southern Iran.

As both sides continue exchanging attacks, diplomatic efforts appear increasingly fragile, with regional powers seeking ways to prevent a wider conflict.
