A glacial collapse and debris flow, not an earthquake, triggered catastrophic flooding in Nepal and Tibet, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS). What was initially reported as a 4.4 magnitude earthquake was actually the seismic impact of a massive glacier chunk crashing into the valley.
