Suspended EMPD Deputy Chief Mkhwanazi arrested

IPID has arrested suspended EMPD Deputy Chief Julius Mkhwanazi regarding his alleged involvement in the 2023 theft of precious stones valued at just under 15-million rand.

He is the fifth and last suspect to be arrested in the matter.

IPID alleges that the suspects were behind a raid at a house in Killarney where they allegedly seized precious stones and did not register them as exhibits.
