A large landslide has occurred in south-western China, trapping people under rubble and damaging residential buildings.

Eight people have died in the slip which happened in Pengshui, a county located on the banks of the Wujiang River, with more than 30 others still reported missing.

Chinese state media has reported that community officers who saw "sporadic falling rocks" raised the alarm and managed to evacuate dozens of people.
