Workers' Day 2026 | COSATU remembers struggle of workers

COSATU Gauteng deputy chair, Mogomotsi Seleke says key labour laws, including the Basic Conditions of Employment Act, Labour Relations Act and Employment Equity Act, were hard won through the struggles of workers and trade unions, not simply granted by employers.

He says commemorating Worker's Day serves as a reminder of these gains.

Seleke was speaking earlier this morning to SABC Senior Reporter, Ofentse Setimo, at the Gauteng May Day Commemoration at Tsakane Stadium in Brakpan.
