Ukraine’s Government Reshuffle Becomes Reality. Popular Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov has been removed from office, officially amid a conflict with Ukraine’s military leadership.

“For a long time, analysts in Ukraine have suggested that Volodymyr Zelenskyy is wary of potential rivals in future elections,” says Marta Shokalo, Editor-in-Chief of BBC News Ukrainian, in World Talks. According to her, Fedorov’s departure could trigger a serious political crisis.

At the same time, speculation is growing over the possibility of holding elections as early as this autumn, despite the ongoing war. “From Zelenskyy’s perspective, it may be better to act now rather than wait until the war is over,” Shokalo argues.
