Increasing Malaria cases and deaths in Mpumalanga

Mpumalanga has recorded 858 malaria cases, and four deaths, since January.

81 of the cases involve people with no travel history.

The provincial health department has urged residents and travellers to take extra precautions, as the province continues to battle the spread of the mosquito-borne disease.

The department has conducted an awareness campaign in Nkomazi, east of Malelane, to mark World Malaria Day.
