Madlanga Commission | Suliman Carrim's doctor and hospital to be subpoenaed after he was seen in WC

The Madlanga Commission of Inquiry has turned up the pressure on North West businessman Suleiman Carrim, as questions mount over his repeated failure to appear and testify before the commission. Chief Evidence Leader Advocate Matthew Chaskalson says the commission has received multiple whistleblower reports alleging that Carrim was recently seen shopping and dining at a Western Cape shopping centre, despite having been declared medically unfit to testify. The claims have prompted fresh scrutiny of Carrim's latest application for a postponement.

Chaskalson told the commission that evidence leaders are seeking to establish whether Carrim's reported public activities are consistent with the medical grounds advanced to justify his absence from proceedings.
To verify the allegations, the commission has requested subpoenas for Carrim's hospital records, medical information and CCTV footage
