The estimated costs of repairing storm-damaged electricity infrastructure alone in Cape Town is expected to run into tens of millions of rand.

Cape Town mayor, Geordin Hill-Lewis says thousands of trees have blown over in the gale force winds and many have fallen onto electricity cables.

Just under five-thousand incidents of power outages are still being attended to in the metro.
