On Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Sweden, MEA Secretary (West) Sibi George highlighted that the Prime Minister Modi, along with the Prime Minister of Sweden Ulf Kristersson, interacted with select Swedish CEOs and underlined the importance of deepening trade, technology and investment engagement between India and Sweden. The meeting was attended by top Swedish companies including Volvo, AstraZeneca, Saab and Ericsson, reflecting strong industry participation and growing economic interest.

He noted that this was one of the first major business engagements attended by the PM Modi in Europe after the finalisation of the India–EU FTA. The event, the European Round Table for Industry, was also addressed by the Prime Minister of Sweden and the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, making it a significant pan-European platform bringing together leading business and industry figures from the EU, EFTA and the UK.
