Psychiatric home faces eviction after decades

The long-standing facility licensed by the Gauteng Department of Health to care for 200 mental health users, faces imminent eviction from its Johannesburg premises property it has rented from the Old Apostolic Church for more than two decades while consistently meeting its obligations.

The tenant has reportedly cited aging infrastructure, specifically plumbing issues, for the decision to terminate the lease, after a February notice was given to vacate the premises in mid-May.
