Judiciary concerned about false narratives

Chief Justice Mandisa Maya is concerned about the abuse of social media to create false political narratives about the judiciary and judgments.

She has been speaking at the opening of the 2026 Judiciary Conference in Durban, brining together top legal minds and judicial leaders from across South Africa.

Under the banner, 'Towards a Single, Independent, and Accountable Judiciary,' the bench is confronting its biggest challenges yet, from crippling case backlogs, to the fight for complete financial independence.
