Bangladesh floods heighten dengue, cholera risks, says IFRC

At least 50 have died and more than 1 million stranded by severe floods and landslides in Bangladesh. The country’s disaster management ministry said flooding across seven districts has disrupted daily life and slowed rescue efforts. Sonakshi Dey, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies’ (IFRC) Bangladesh programme director told CNA’s Asia First that the disaster has heightened the risk of public health threats, including waterborne diseases like dengue and cholera.
