Madlanga Commission | Crime Expert & IRS Forensic Investigation CEO testifies

The Madlanga Commission has entered a crucial phase of its inquiry, with recent testimony widening the focus from alleged misconduct within Crime Intelligence and SAPS to broader questions around accountability, oversight and possible failures within South Africa's criminal justice system.

The commission has heard evidence from Witness O, a Crime Intelligence officer, regarding matters linked to the Investigating Directorate against Corruption, including a suspicious email allegedly involving senior officials.

Retired Hawks Colonel Kobus Roelofse also testified about allegations involving IDAC head Advocate Andrea Johnson and Crime Intelligence Major-General Feroz Khan, including concerns around the handling of an assault complaint and internal accountability processes.

The inquiry has further heard evidence from Witness N, a detective sergeant attached to the Political Killings Task Team, who testified about allegations of possible police misconduct and extortion involving Pakistani nationals.
