Ephraim "Shakes" Mashaba and Matthew Booth share a deep historical bond in South African football, highlighted by their iconic run with the Under-23 national team, which was commonly known as Amaglug-glug.

Booth captained Mashaba's famous youth squad that made history by qualifying for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, where they famously defeated a star-studded Brazilian team, featuring a young Ronaldinho, 3-1.
