Polish ultra-runner Tomasz Sobania etched his name into the history books a few weeks ago. In an astonishing feat of endurance, he completed 50 marathons in 50 states in just 49 days, breaking the 20-year-old record set by American legend Dean Karnazes, who took 50 days. What challenges are left for the “Polish Forrest Gump” to conquer?
“My next plan is to break the Guinness World Record by running seven marathons on seven continents in the record-breaking time of six days,” Sobania told TVP World in an exclusive interview. “There were a couple of people who did that challenge in seven days, and the record is six days and 18 hours, and my goal is to do it quicker.”
The ultra-runner said that the Antarctic leg of the challenge will be the toughest hurdle to clear, citing money and logistics.
“But I’m pretty good at that. And with people’s support, I guess it can be done,” he added.
Join TVP World’s Sports Commentator Jon Carter and his guest as they discuss Sobania’s latest feat of endurance, including the preparations required, which state posed the biggest challenges, and the importance of the Pole choosing the 250th anniversary of the American Declaration of Independence for this 50-state endeavor.
