EC addresses contractor failures, project delays

Eastern Cape Public Works and Infrastructure MEC, Siphokazi Lusithi, says approximately 87 construction projects in housing and in water and sanitation have been abandoned by contractors in the 2024/25 financial year.

The abandonment of projects has been attributed to contractors' financial incapacity, and their inability to perform the work they are contracted for.

The MEC was speaking to the SABC on the sidelines of the launch of the Construction Industry Development Board's Certificate in Construction Management in KuGompo city.
