Russia continued its attacks across Ukraine on Friday, striking Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, and the Kherson region, while humanitarian conditions worsened in the occupied town of Oleshky, where residents face near-constant shelling and limited access to food. Ukraine and Russia also carried out another prisoner exchange, bringing home 160 Ukrainian POWs, many of whom had been held since 2022. Meanwhile, the Ukraine Recovery Conference concluded in Gdańsk with nearly $10 billion in reconstruction and financial agreements, including new defense and security partnerships. As Russian aerial assaults persist, Ukraine's defense firm Fire Point says it aims to produce the country's first domestically developed ballistic missile interceptor by the end of the year.
To discuss these and more Ukraine Brief host Sally Jastrzębska was joined by Andreas Umland, Policy Fellow at the European Policy Institute in Kyiv.
