Taking attendance in the Red Chamber: 'absent, absent, absent'

In the last 12 months, only eight of 105 senators have a perfect attendance record for the chamber's 76 sitting days. The others have questionable presence records and, according to a CBC News analysis, were absent anywhere from one to 54 days.

Earlier this week, Prime Minister Mark Carney announced plans to overhaul the Senate, saying he wants to see a change in how the Red Chamber operates so it's "equipped to advance ambitious legislation."
