TVP World Europe Editor Marcin Zaborowski says leaked documents strongly suggest that China has been far more involved in supporting Russia’s war effort than Beijing publicly admits, especially through military technology and cooperation aimed at countering systems like Starlink. He argues that China has become Russia’s most important strategic enabler by buying its energy, helping it bypass sanctions, and supplying dual-use technology that keeps Moscow’s war machine running. In return, China is gaining valuable battlefield data, cheaper energy, and a stronger partner in its broader challenge to the United States and the West.
Zaborowski warns that this growing Russia–China partnership is no longer just about Ukraine – it poses a much wider security challenge for NATO and the entire Western alliance. He also says Europe and the United States need to reduce their dependence on Chinese technology and supply chains, even if doing so comes at a significant economic cost.
