Eastern Cape crashes claim 12 lives

Five people have died after the car they were travelling in overturned on the N10 near Middelburg in the Eastern Cape.

Three other people were injured in Monday night's crash.

It's understood the vehicle was travelling from Middelburg towards Nxuba and carrying eight occupants.

The driver of the car is one of the five deceased.

This is the second multiple fatality crash in the province over the past 24 hours, claiming a total 12 lives.

Provincial transport department spokesperson, Unathi Binqose says a case of culpable homicide is has been opened.
