Gauteng Traffic Police Chief, Provincial Inspector Samuel Mashaba, has called into question the credibility of key digital evidence presented at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry.
Continuing his testimony, Mashaba urged the commission to independently authenticate WhatsApp and Telegram messages including their timestamps before relying on them, warning that unverified communications could not be treated as conclusive evidence.
He maintained that he cannot be expected to support information he disputes or believes has not been properly established, adding that his inability to recall certain details has, at times, been unfairly interpreted as dishonesty.
Mashaba says this has placed him under pressure to accept versions of events he does not agree with, as scrutiny of his role and testimony intensifies.
