Suspended Ekurhuleni official arrested, but Police remain silent on charges

The South Africa Police Service says it won't comment on the arrest of a Ekurhuleni official who was arrested.

The official was reportedly arrested in Germiston, in Ekurhuleni.

He was placed on precautionary suspension in December, for failing to act against wrongdoing, and following allegations of corruption and misconduct.

The official came under fire at the Madlanga Commission for allegedly being part of a group that blocked disciplinary action against suspended deputy chief of Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department, Julius Mkhwanazi, in 2023.
