European Parliament sides with Poland's criticism of Zelenskyy amid historical row | Midday Report

- EU PARLIAMENT SIDES WITH POLAND
The European Parliament has formally criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s recent decision to name a Ukrainian military unit after the UPA, also known as the Ukrainian Insurgent Army or World War Two. The choice prompted a diplomatic row between Poland and Ukraine and now the European Parliament says that Zelenskyy’s decision was an unnecessary and unprovoked escalation.

- WILL TRUMP RE-COMMIT?
NATO members convene for day two of the annual leaders’ summit in Ankara, Turkey. On this final day of the meeting, European leaders aim to persuade the U.S. President Donald Trump to re-commit to the defense organization and to move forward from ongoing disputes. Trump also said he has delegated his Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to cut off all trade with Spain, calling Madrid, a “terrible partner” in NATO.

- INTENSIFIED ATTACKS ON RUSSIA
Ukraine continues to intensify its attacks on Russia. Footage from the Sea of Azov shows Ukrainian UAVs strike against 9 Russian shadow fleet tankers in the last 24 hours This comes as Russian attacks intensify in Ukraine also in the last 24 hours with three confirmed dead so far.
