Health Ombud | KZN hospitals cleared of negligence, after probe into doctors' deaths

The Health Ombud has cleared public hospitals in KwaZulu-Natal of any direct link to a series of deaths involving healthcare professionals that sparked national concern and intense public scrutiny over the past year.

An independent investigation was commissioned after complaints from Health Minister Dr Aaron Motsoaledi and former Parliamentary Health Portfolio Committee Chair Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo.

Ombud, Professor Taole Mokoena, says investigators found no evidence that workplace conditions, hospital management practices, or broader systemic failures were responsible for the deaths.
