Sea sports instructor dies after lightning strike off Pasir Ris Beach

A 24-year-old sea sports instructor has died after being struck by lightning while kayaking off Pasir Ris Beach on Jul 5. Mikhail Benyamin was among a group of seven on the water when the incident happened. His employer, Outdoor Adventures, says it will suspend operations for two weeks as investigations continue and to pay respects to him and his family. The tragedy has also sparked calls for more lightning warning systems along the beach.
