Elihle Stali | Filial love inspires tech innovation

A young innovator from Mdantsane in KuGompo City in the Eastern Cape will be flying the South African flag high in one of the programmes that convene some of the top global technology companies, the Leap East programme in Hong Kong.

The young innovator, Elihle Stali, was selected for his AI-powered smart glasses for the blind, designed to help visually impaired people navigate their surroundings more independently.

His blind grandmother inspired the idea.

A crowdfunding campaign was started for 23-year-old Stali after the SABC highlighted his struggle to pay for the trip.
