Back in 1971, Mexico's women's team beat England at the Azteca in what was a precursor to the Women's World Cup.
80,000 fans watched that game and more than 100,000 turned out for the final.
But FIFA didn't start the official Women's World Cup until 1991.
Al Jazeera's Julia Galiano reports from Mexico City.
